There’s been a bit of news about banana man releasing a copy of “Origin of the Species” with his “special” christian/ID introduction (and a few missing chapters that might interfere with his crafy introduction). Ignore the man. Instead of reading his crappy version go help yourself to all the Darwin goodness (and badness… he was a human after all ) you want at the Darwin online web site.

Hope page is still messed up, I know! Working on getting weather information into the banner. I’ll post a link to the project when i finish sometime in 2011. Behaps these snazy humidity graphs will help pass the time.
First impression of Gracenote service with the new Sony 400 disk blu-ray changer… “How the FUCK could you not have the new “Last Starfighter 25th Anniversary Edition” blu-ray in your database =/.
And finally, my impression of 37 …. it was a lot like 36.

bluetooth September 14th, 2009
We picked up a speaker to share stuff via bluetooth from the laptops, still working through a few interface rough spots but it works for the most part. One rough spot was the volume..
solution is a script to up/down the volume using an AVRCP bluez(4+) python binding script.
Look here’s one! ;)

Hay… July 16th, 2009
We’re getting better at attachingĀ the bush hog (rotary cutter) to the tractor. I think we managed to do it in less then 45 minute yesterday and the includes disconnecting the front end loader (FEL) and the backhoe. There are some tricky turns and space issues involved when doing all that and leaving the equipment in the barn where it is out of the weather. I’ll attribute about 1/2 of the good speed to practice with taking the FEL and backhoe off during the fall, and the other 1/2 to the assistance of epe and her mom, it’s pretty amazing how helpful it is just to have someone hand you a wrench or dropped bolt when you’re holding a 30lb steel three point hitch arm up under the tractor to connect it. After it was all attached we then centered and leveled the deck.
I took it out for the initial run up/down the hill north of the house to make sure it was all working, then epe did a few runs. I finished off the easy parts of that field this afternoon. I have about an hour left on the west side, and then a few more hours on the right side where the trees are more numerous.
Maintaining the field is important to keeping them from overgrowing and undoing all the work we had performed 2 years ago. Wood/brush pressure on idle fields is fairly high in the northeast, it only takes a few years to go from idle hay field to briars/thorns and then more difficult trees like ash and black locust.
Oh and I should mention I like to keep the bucket on the loader down when we’re cutting, as we go along it fills up with several pounds of grass seeds and a fairly huge assortment of crickets/leaf hoppers/bees/spiders and other unidentified bugs ;). It’s pretty disgusting to look at, but when I dump off the crawling pile of seeds near the chickens and guineas the happy noises are wonderful.

You really can’t wish someone a “Happy” Kristallnacht if you’re on my side of the isle, it really doesn’t work well. Instead how about we switch it up a bit and declare it “National punch a holocaust denier in the face day” instead. I could get behind happy and that one. Some call Mahmoud Mermaidinajar.
On a completely unrelated subject. New instant water heater is pretty cool. (in a really hot skin removing way).

Couple updates..
We’ve had to escalate the fox battle a bit, there are 6 leg hold traps out on the property. Try not to get caught!
We picked up a matching pair of t500s to replace our aged out r40s. This has been the easiest linux compatibility install in a while. Kubuntu for epe, and Gentoo for me.
We’ve been seeing a great deal of wildlife in the field areas we cleared two years ago. It’s been nice to see the field grasses/clover fill in, and even nicer to see the animals seems to like it. Some (Godzilla cam) videos up on TY.
We just had a tank-less water heater installed as well. We’ll let folks know how that works out.

If anyone feels wants/needs a garden to help out and doesn’t have room for whatever reason ( renting/no room/hallucination/we really don’t care what the reason is ) feel free to get in touch with me or epe and we’ll see what we can do for you =). We have several idle acres near the house/barn that have water and storage available, and if you’re completely insane we can always set you up in the western field :).
(No you can’t grow weed ;P)

Friday the 13th for those of you who believe in that kind of thing.
AND!
1234567890 day for those of us that live in UNIX :). Probably the last great timestamp until the world comes to a crashing halt in 2038 or so. 32bit numbers are more then enough for anybody :).
