Happy fourth of July 2010 July 4th, 2010

thingy

Had another weird dream last night. Maurice Minifield from northern exposure was in charge of a huge Jurassic park operation except indoors (like bio-dome). After a while the raptors split into sides and attacked each other. There was also something about curing a sick dwarf with disease research.
The pretzel man!
Thanks for making our collective day Dan =).

Had to cull PJ this weekend. Pasty butt, gasping, listless. In case you’re wondering, NO, it doesn’t get any easier.
Picked up some cold hardy bamboo to plant here. I’m hoping it becomes more nasty and invasive the the poison ivy, multi-flora rose, and whatever the weird early spring mustard is. The plan is to put it in the ravine just east of the house out of the majority of the wind and see if it makes it until next spring. Guess I’ll be posting again in a year =).
Do deer eat bamboo? ;p
I had a dream last night I was training to track missiles. The training consisted of putting cheese whiz into both ears with my finger and listening for some kind of Doppler noise, then following it with my head. The dream ended with a missile launching from the living room and me with ears full of cheese whiz. I never did get to the tracking part.
Got vgaswitcheroo working on my t500. Not using that page since but it’s close enough for those of you running one of the major distros. battery drop is way slower when the radeon is off.
As part of our ongoing reduce number of services/power use we ordered new parts for our media pcs guts this week. Replacing drives with one double the size (1/2 the number), and a new cpu and more ram (12gig!). We’ll be killing a server and running it as a vm on there now. Going to slay the replay and timewarner DVR soon as well.
There’s been a bit of news about banana man releasing a copy of “Origin of the Species” with his “special” christian/ID introduction (and a few missing chapters that might interfere with his crafy introduction). Ignore the man. Instead of reading his crappy version go help yourself to all the Darwin goodness (and badness… he was a human after all ) you want at the Darwin online web site.

Hope page is still messed up, I know! Working on getting weather information into the banner. I’ll post a link to the project when i finish sometime in 2011. Behaps these snazy humidity graphs will help pass the time.
First impression of Gracenote service with the new Sony 400 disk blu-ray changer… “How the FUCK could you not have the new “Last Starfighter 25th Anniversary Edition” blu-ray in your database =/.
And finally, my impression of 37 …. it was a lot like 36.
